The syrupy sweet smell of mountain creeks in Appalachia.
Ruining clothes with red clay and pokeberry juice.
Evening-cooled corn eaten right off the stalk.
The slow unfurl of a night-blooming lily at dusk.
The smell of lightning while hiking on a ridge-top.

Smelling hot asphalt and barbeque in the distance, with just a hint of cigarette smoke
Burying bulbs - tulips, crocus, daffodils - as a winter storm sweeps in
Sitting on some church steps, sharing chicken tenders out of a KFC bucket (we broke the biscuit in half)
Watching the lights blink on as the sky turned coral and our boat pulled away from the Isle of Capri
Standing at a potting bench, watching the evening shadows spread over the nursery
